Initial oral examination
Initial oral examination refers to visual examination, periodontal probing, charting, diagnosis, and treatment recommendations. During this exam, cavities and gum diseases get checked by a dentist after cleaning the teeth. Bits of Advice is also given to patients on oral hygiene, diet, and other lifestyle facts that might affect oral health.
Why we need Oral examination:
Regular oral exams help to protect our oral health and also our overall health. There is some disease that shows their initial symptoms or signs through the mouth. If the dentist identifies such signs, they will advise us to visit a doctor, and sometimes the early diagnosis of many systemic diseases can be cured or controlled correctly.
Besides, we can also get regular advice for our oral health such as brushing and flossing techniques, tips on caring for teeth, and detecting signs of any oral disease early.
How to get prepare:
If someone is visiting a dentist for the first time, they must look for their friends and family’s recommendation first so that they don’t have to change their dentist by getting the service they didn’t expect. The second thing that comes in the preparation list is considering the location, office hours, and participation in the health plan. It’s always better to explain if someone is anxious before the oral exam so that the dentist can help them to be more comfortable.
